It finds the address where you put it

See You Soon reads each job's address from the calendar event itself. It tries the event's map location, then the location text, then an Apple Maps link, then a notes line with a UK postcode. A job with no address keeps its place in the day, and "Add" or "Here" writes one onto the event.

  1. A map location on the event

    "From the event's location"

  2. The location text, looked up

"Looked up from the event's location text"

  3. An Apple Maps link

"From a Maps link in this event"

  4. A notes line with a UK postcode

    "Read from the event notes"

No address

  • Add
  • Here

How it works

  1. It reads the event. The app tries the four places in order and uses the first that gives an answer.

  2. It checks the answer. A looked-up address is rejected unless part of it appears in the text you wrote.

  3. It says where it came from. Job detail shows "Where the address came from".

  4. No address? "Add". Type the street and postcode, with suggestions as you type. Saving writes the address onto the calendar event.

  5. Standing at the job? "Here". The app reads where you are, looks up the address, and asks "Save this as the address?". Nothing is saved until you tap "Save".

"Where are you?"Ten minutes into a job with no address, when a later leave time depends on it. While the app is open
A text to ask"Ask for the address" writes the text. You send it

What it needs

  • An address in the event, or one you add.
  • A connection, to look the address up on Apple Maps.
  • For a postcode in the notes: UK postcodes only.
  • For "Here": location allowed, Precise Location, and a connection.
  • A calendar that allows changes, to save an address onto the event.

What it doesn't do

  • It doesn't read the notes when the location field holds any text, even text the map can't place.
  • "Here" saves nothing until you confirm, and offers nothing when the position is worse than 150 metres.

Questions

Where should I put the address?

In the event's location field, with the street and postcode. Pick it from the suggestions in Apple's Calendar app where you can: the event then carries the exact spot. The guide shows a worked example.

Does it read postcodes from the notes?

Yes, a line in the notes that holds a UK postcode, when the location field is empty. A label before a colon, such as "Address:", is dropped.

What does "No route" mean?

The job has an address, but the map couldn't place it, Apple Maps gave no route, or the journey has nowhere to start from. Open the job, tap "Edit" and pick the address from the suggestions.

Does "Here" save my location?

It saves the address you confirm onto the job in your calendar, and nothing else. Nothing is saved until you tap "Save".

What if the customer hasn't given me an address?

"Ask for the address" writes a text asking for the address and postcode, with the booked time in it. You send it. It needs a number that can take a text.
